Julie London (nee Peck, September 26, 1926 - October 18 1999) is an American actress and singer who spanned over 40 years. London, a torch singer loved for her smooth, soothing vocals and smooth contralto voice, recorded more than thirty albums of jazz and pop standards between 1955-1969. Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame was her rendition of "Cry Me a River", a song she introduced in her debut album. In addition to the music-related recognition, London was nominated for an award called a Golden Globe Award in 1974 for her performance as nurse Dixie McCall in the television show Emergency!. Born in Santa Rosa, California, to vaudevillian parents, London was discovered while working as an elevator operator in downtown Los Angeles, and she began her acting career. London's career in acting lasted 35 years. It began in 1944 , with roles in films. The films featured roles for the lead female character in many westerns. She also appeared with Rock Hudson in The Fat Man (19
