Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix (Arizona) as the daughter of Juanita Cordova and Colby Carter. Her father is of English as well as Scots Irish family as is her mother, who is Mexican and Spanish. A brother named Vincent and a sister, Pamela, are her siblings. Carter was 5 years old when she made her television debut on the Lew Kings Talent Show. Carter joined a band named Just Us in high school. The group performed marimba, a conga drum, an acoustic guitar, and a stand-up bass , which was played by another girl from the group. Lynda began singing at a local pizza joint when she was 15. [8] She joined her cousins, The Relatives, when she turned 16. Gary Burghoff, actor, was the drummer for The band. The group first started at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas. Carter had to enter the kitchen because she was older than 21. After being awarded "Most talented", Carter decided to leave the school to pursue a career as a musician. Carter was a candidate for The Garfin Gathering in 1970. She then went on tour with Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first performance with each other was held at the Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel so new that it did not have a sidewalk entryway. The hotel staff and hotel guests drove their cars into the garage underground, which meant that they were performing to the hotel's guests. The Garfin Gathering played shows in several Nevada casinos, such as those between Lake Tahoe, Carson City and Reno. Carter made the decision to leave the Garfin Gathering in 1972 to pursue acting. She then went back to Arizona.
