Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand actress. Born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington Paquin was able to make her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress aged 11 years old, which makes her the second youngest winner of the award in Oscar history. Canadian-born New Zealand actor who won the Academy Award as a youngster as Best Supporting Actress playing the enthusiastic and curious child of Holly Hunter's leading role in The Piano. In response to an audition Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter of a Scottish pianist. Flora McGrath is the child of a mute Scottish musician who moved from Scotland to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. In her teens her family relocated to the United States. Paquin had the role of lead in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 and also had a small part in the film as Jane Eyre as just a young child. Paquin was Frankie Addams from a television film adaptation of Carson McCullers' book The Member of the Wedding (1997). Paquin played a minor role in The Queen of Spain Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997. The actress played teens as teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) and A Walk on the Moon (1999) and portrayed the character of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa as a character in Almost Famous (2000).
