Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the virtues of family football scholarship and community service. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They raised him on their farm in Eufala. He played second in football and was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. During his three years as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth time of service included ten hours per week as a volunteer in college. After college he settled in Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers played the all-pro 3 times, and began a business career. By 1988, he became an Account Relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's top 10 young men. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at 256 pounds in college as player, commanded his team during the season of 1975. In 1993, he was a part of his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
